1. Minimum Order Quantity
Most factories have a minimum order quantity (MOQ), usually ranging from 100-5000 pieces per style. If the quantity is too small, the factory unit price will be much higher. When ordering custom jackets, check if the factory specializes in low MOQ runs.
2. Quality Control
It is recommended to specify quality standards in the contract (such as national standard GB/T 2660-2017 or industry standards), and require the factory to provide photos or videos for confirmation at key stages (such as after cutting, semi-finished products, and finished products). If possible, it is best to send someone or entrust a third party to inspect the goods.
3. Delivery Management
The apparel industry is heavily influenced by factors such as fabric supply, worker turnover, and weather, making delivery delays common. It is recommended to include delay penalty clauses in the contract and allow for a buffer period.
4. Fabrics and Accessories
Fabric costs typically account for 50%-70% of the total order cost. If you have high quality requirements, it is recommended that you purchase the fabric yourself or designate a reliable fabric supplier to avoid the factory using inferior fabrics in order to cut costs.
5. Intellectual Property Protection
If it is an original design, be sure to sign a confidentiality agreement before communicating with the factory, and make it clear in the contract that the factory shall not use the client's pattern and design for other clients or sell it on its own.
The FOURTH process will be discussed in the next article.
